On Thursday, 18th May, a horde of Dambuster, Deep Silver, and PLAION staff descended on Saltbox in Nottingham to party the night away and celebrate the launch of Dead Island 2 in style!
The evening had everything: Dead Island themed cocktails, classic 90s dance tunes, a zombie face painting station, and the undead were even seen shambling across the dance floor. It’s safe to say that Tracy, Emma, and Nia from our Studio Entertainment Committee know how to throw a party, and we owe them a big thank you for making the night so special.
Undead Party Crashers and a Fiery Display
An outbreak of the Autophage localised to Saltbox in Nottingham meant that there were zombies roaming the venue and spooking us all evening. The menacing cannibals were eventually driven away, though, when two slayers fresh off the plane from HELL-A – Ryan and Dani -- turned up to take care of them.
In another dramatic turn of events, there was even a “Dani off” as Steph (Senior Community Manager at Deep Silver) went toe-to-toe with the other Irish rockabilly slayer to determine who was the real Dani. Ultimately, it was decided they were both up to the title of “Mosh Pit Queen.”
We were also joined by a fire dancing act who performed outside the venue three times over the course of the evening!
A Chance to Celebrate Dead Island 2’s Success as a Team
It’s important to remember that it isn’t just Dambuster Studios that made Dead Island 2 a success. Without the help of our Publisher, Deep Silver, and the folks at PLAION, our games would never end up in the hands of players, as they are responsible for the marketing and distribution of our game.
Another key component in Dead Island 2’s success was the hugely talented actors who lent their voice and likeness to our Slayers, quirky Los Angelinos, and zombies, so we were delighted some managed to make it to the party.
It was great to be able to celebrate as one big team and it was a chance for people who had worked together but not yet met, to become acquainted in person.
Dead Island 2 Has Now Sold Over 2 Million Units!
Recently announced in the Embracer Interim Report Q4, Dead Island 2 has now sold over 2 million copies, officially making it the biggest launch in both Deep Silver and PLAION’s history. Another worthy cause for celebration!
