Former De Montfort University students from our Art team visited their old stomping ground in Leicester to deliver a talk and provide insights to first, second and third year Game Art students. Joining them were Matt, Ellie, Sam, Liam, Holly and Harriet, who talked through their experience at Dambuster Studios and working on Dead Island 2. Each provided insights on their relevant areas of expertise, where they gather their inspiration from, ‘do’s and don’ts’ of a great portfolio, what we look for in potential new team members, and much more.

Afterwards, the team had some one-on-one time with each of the final year students, they looked at their portfolios and gave them personalised points for improvement. We understand the value of supporting the next generation of game artists and visits like this are particularly inspirational when given by alumni. The students found the visit and insights invaluable, especially the one-on-one time.

We hope to visit the university again and are looking forward to seeing the aspiring future graduates take off in their careers.
